The Grand Lodge of India Book of Constitutions — the supreme governing document of Indian Freemasonry.

The Governing Document

Understanding the Book of Constitutions

The Book of Constitutions of the Grand Lodge of India is the supreme governing document for all Freemasons and all lodges working under the authority of the Grand Lodge of India. Every lodge, every officer, and every Brother is bound by its provisions.

The Book of Constitutions sets out:

  • The constitutional framework for the governance of the Grand Lodge of India
  • The regulations governing the formation, working, and dissolution of lodges
  • The laws governing the initiation, passing, raising, and membership of Brethren
  • The rules of procedure for Grand Lodge Communications
  • The powers and responsibilities of Grand Lodge officers and Regional Grand Lodges
  • The rules governing discipline, suspension, and exclusion

All RGLNI byelaws — whether for Craft, Chapter, or Mark workings — must be consistent with and subordinate to the Book of Constitutions.
